Rob Thielke, who played Vern Fonk in the hilariously bad ads for the “alternative insurer” here in Seattle has died of cancer. Here’s some of his greatest hits:

His ads were always the cheesiest and I used to wonder who in their right mind would buy insurance from him, but then my agent retired and sold all of his accounts to...Vern Fonk. So, I’m one of his customers now.

It's when the State of Washington decides you need to post a bond for the minimum amount of liability insurance in the state. Generally comes up when you've gotten busted for something like leaving the scene or driving without insurance.
